What we look for in a back-end developer?

We're looking for a back end developer experienced with Ruby. Experience with Ruby on Rails is appreciated and having SQL skills is a definite plus as well. Talent in other languages and willingness to learn more are worth mentioning if you choose to apply for this job!

  • In back end development we use Ruby on Rails framework and NodeJS stacks. It's a definite plus to have experience with Ruby or any other dynamic language such as Python.
  • If you're more of a JavaScript oriented full stack developer, we hope you have some experience in modern JavaScript front end stacks such as ReactJS, Angular or Vue.
  • We use cloud platforms to deploy our solutions, you’ll familiarise yourself with Heroku, AWS and Kubernetes among others.
  • If you have experience with app development, it's a definite plus as well!

The developer we're now looking for is to joins our team in Amsterdam yet gets to work with the entire Woolman team located in Sweden and Finland as well. Back-end developers at Woolman work on integrations in customer projects and develop apps for our customers.

And there's also work to do with Woolman's own app development. Take a closer look at Nordic Shipping App for example!

Woolman is a four year old company with just over 70 employees. There's definitely room for new ideas, contributing to the project management style and ways to work as a team. You should be able to work in English.

What is it like to work at Woolman?

Woolman's strength is its amazing team and customers! The work is independent and every workday is a chance to learn something new. Our strengths also include trust, openness and the willingness to experiment. Our growth brings in a constant supply of new customers and meaningful challenges. We are reshaping our customers’ vision of eCommerce and its importance! You can read more about our customers in our blog.

We work in teams but that doesn't mean we don't get together outside our teams! We gather up together on Woolman Days which are company-wide get-togethers. We come together, learn from our work, projects and about each other – of course during the last year or so we've been forced to arrange these events remotely. But we've taken the advantage of different remote working tools such as Howspace and Zoom.

Woolman has offices in four different cities in Finland and also in Stockholm and Amsterdam. We've grown fast, that's for sure! Because of this there's still a lot to develop in our way of working. That has its pros and cons. If you're able to work proactively and despite uncertainty and want to contribute your own professional impact on how we work as a team in the future, you will definitely thrive at Woolman.
